Love Controls the Dial

Fear may speak volumes when amplified, but Love controls the dial. ~ Susan Larison Danz

Everywhere we turn right now, we hear the voice of Fear speaking.  Perhaps many of us cannot recall a time quite like this.  It's best to catch our breath and literally retrieve it.  Because we all need to breathe.

Hate may appear to be the opposite of Love, but many spiritual seekers have been led to realize it is actually Fear.  If we truly want to get a handle on the situation, Love is the only way.  ("I Am here" was literally echoing while I was writing, on the TV - which I really shouldn't have on right now, but it is difficult to resist - we all want to better understand what the situation is.)

"I Am here".  That's a synchronicity, and a good one!

Because what IS Love, truly, for those of us in the spiritual community?  Love is Divine, and there can be nothing that is stronger.  Several spiritual traditions share this foundation.

I'll place my faith in Love.  I'll place my trust in Love.

Love controls the dial.  Because it's the Answer.

Wide Open Spaces

"She needs wide open spaces
room to make her big mistakes."
~ The Dixie Chicks

This song has been on my mind ever since I interviewed Larry Seyer last week, a 9-time Grammy award-winning producer, engineer and musician who played a pivotal role in launching The Dixie Chicks.  I hadn't thought about the song in a long while, an old favorite.  It is echoed even more by my current surroundings, on a visit to the wide open spaces of my original home in
Colorado.

Room to make big mistakes doesn't necessarily imply "big mistakes" are inevitable.  In fact, I would suggest that it is the mistakes and apparent missteps which can often open up the spaces even more.  It all depends on our response.  We can close down or we can open up.  And sometimes it can even be a combination of the two.

There is a tendency in life to seek to fill a wide open space.  I see it symbolically all around me, as the much smaller Denver I remember from my youth sprawls out upon the plains.  Sometimes when a wide open space is in front of us, it is best to pause, take a deep breath, and simply experience the wonder of Wide Open.  We will know soon enough just what space it is we are called to occupy next...

Rest Stop

When you view every moment through the eyes of Love, what do you truly see?

A friend recently described to me what it's like to take a trip via motorcycle versus car.  There is a real sense of presence on a motorcycle that you miss when you aren't fully experiencing the subtleties of the road.

View of a favorite place - Boulder, CO.
I have a very vivid memory of a motorcycle experience as a preteen in the Colorado mountains.  I can almost feel the bumps and turns in the road like it was yesterday.  I was too young to drive of course (and wouldn't have dreamed of it at the time).  My most important task was simply to Hold On!

I have had quite the fascinating adventure the past month or so, as my life apparently shifts into a higher gear.  But it seems I have come to a rest stop.  And much like the scenic rest areas in the mountains I enjoy, I'm stopping to breathe and take in the view.
